Introduction

Digital disruption is real, is happening now, and is fundamentally changing the way organizations will compete and create, capture and deliver value to all key stakeholders, their business models, their industry groups where they operate, as well as their roles in the transformation of smart cities and regional ecosystems in decades to come. There has never been a time as now when the role of incubators is called at center of this transformational process, not only for incubating start-ups with disruptive business models, while interacting with the multiple key stakeholders in the ecosystems, but actually to support and manage actively the new roles and knowledge spillovers among all these actors. Challenges and Opportunities will be analysed and discussed.

This talk is about this new order that will guide businesses in the future ecosystems with implications for the Greater Bay Area.

What is Digital Ecosystem?

A digital ecosystem is a distributed, adaptive, open socio-technical system with properties of self-organisation, scalability and sustainability inspired from natural ecosystems. Digital ecosystem models are informed by knowledge of natural ecosystems, especially for aspects related to competition and collaboration among diverse entities. The term is used in the computer industry, the entertainment industry, and the World Economic Forum. (Reference: Wikipedia)
